Yemen – Conflict and Displacements (DG ECHO, UN, NGOs, Media) (ECHO Daily Flash of 13 February 2019)

  • ince June 2018, around 25 000 families (over 150 000 people) have been displaced to and within Hajjah Governorate. Most live in the 309 settlements scattered across the Abs district. DG ECHO supported Camp Coordination and Camp Management programmes support a number of these sites. Newly displaced families are assisted by DG ECHO supported Rapid Response Mechanism with emergency food, water and non-food items.
  • At the end of January, an inter-agency mission ro Damt district, Al Dhale governorate identified critical water and sanitation needs among 95 000 people, including 6 000 internally dispalced. Almost half are categorised as IPC 4 (Emergency status, Integrated Food Security Phase Classification). Water supply and sewage systems have collapsed, posing additional health risks. Since October 2018, international organisations have been unable to provide healthcare.
  • The Stockholm Agreement’s redeployment plan for Hodeidah is still under discussion. There is still no access to the Red Sea Mills grain silos and its critical grain store, and the main road linking Hodeidah port to Sana’a is still blocked.
