Condemnation and Denouncement Statement

Legal center for rights and development is monitoring the suffering of the residents in Al-Sarari villages in Saber district, Taiz province, nearly 2000 families including women, children and elder are suffering from the violations that are committed by armed groups of coalition forces after the siege of the area for more than a year. The army group prevented the introduction of medicine and food, according to the testimonies of the families who reported to the center that the violations by armed groups have intensified frequently during the past two weeks by attacking and direct shelling on civilians’ houses.

In addition, they targeted the families by heavy and light weapons that led to kill many civilians including women and children. All of this is in preparation to storm the village and commit massacres and genocide against more than (2000) families live in this area, in the silence of the United Nations and international and local organizations. The civilians and families appeal to intervene and stop the massacres committed against them by those groups.
Legal center for rights and development condemns and denounces in the strongest terms the grave and serious violations of international humanitarian law that committed by-backed coalition military forces and armed groups, which has waged aggression on Yemen since March last year, these violations may represent genocide, crimes against civilians and criminalized all laws.
Legal center calls on the United Nations, Human Rights Council and its representative in Yemen and all human rights and humanitarian organizations to condemn these crimes and pressure on the international community to intervene and alleviate the human suffering of the affected population of Al-Sarari area and stop the massacres against civilians. The speed of the formation of an international investigation committee to visit the area, view and investigate these crimes.
Legal center also demands the sponsors’ states of dialogue between the Yemeni parties in the State of Kuwait to the rapid intervention to lift the siege and let medicines and food pass and allow the parties and humanitarian organizations to bring humanitarian aid (food and medicine) to the people of the area.
Especially, there are many wounded civilians from the residents of the area exposed their lives in danger and death as a result of lack of medical care and medical supplies that armed groups prevent.
There is no doubt that the international community bears any serious implications for the catastrophic situation in the region and repeat the crimes of genocide and crimes against humanity, which seeks the armed groups to commit against the population of Al-Sarari area in case of the failure of international community to response.
