Yemen: Hajjah Displacement/Response Update, 14 – 18 April 2019

The conflict frontline in Abs district was relatively calm this week and the number of IDPs arriving in IDP hosting sites decreased. DRC reported the arrival of five newly displaced families at one IDP hosting site in Abs district of Hajjah governorate while other 35 IDP families from the same IDP hosting site departed to unknown destination.

NFI distribution completed by NRC for 590 families at three IDP hosting sites in Abs district and ACF assisted 260 families in Aslem district. NFI and EESKs distribution completed by NRC for 356 families displaced from Kushar district into Abs district, IOM assisted 6 families with NFIs and two families with EESKs in Khayran Al Muharraq district of Hajjah governorate and DRC provided 55 families with NFI kits and 100 families with EESKs at two IDP hosting sites in Abs district.

ADO (Abs Development Foundation) reported two incidents of fire on the 17th and 18th of April resulted in the burning of four emergency shelters and a transitional shelter in two IDP hosting sites in Abs district. No serious injuries reported. WASH conditions at the IDP hosting sites in Abs district remain substandard. ADO identified water supply gap in 175 sites in Abs district to be 237,708 cubic meter which is almost 46% of the overall water need in the district. There is a gap of 4,562 latrines in 108 IDP hosting sites in Abs district.
